Since 1994 FNF has supported different local partner organisations aiming at building a state of law through fighting corruption and promoting good governance principles amongst youth, and reopening channels of communication and dialogue amongst Lebanese.

In Syria
Within the framework of this EU co-funded programme the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty worked together with numerous civil society organizations focusing on the rights and responsibilities of citizens, promoting awareness of human rights and building the capacities of organisations working in such fields.

In Iraq
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation has been supporting political decision-makers in Iraq with legal consultancy, capacity building and conflict-resolution efforts since 2004.

In 2005, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Amman Office, in close cooperation with Iraqi counterparts and in coordination with other international institutions and organisations, supported Iraq’s constitution drafting process. The project was co-financed by the Democratisation Assistance Programme of the German Foreign Office.

Regional EU-Project "Freedom of Association"
The regional EU co-financed project „Enhancing the legal framework of associations in the Arab world through national dialogue and empowerment of civil society“  aims at strengthening the rule of law and democratic process by setting standards for laws governing civil society (NGOs, political parties, labour unions) that adhere to international standards and are promoted through Arab official bodies and networks as reform models from inside.
