Beirut: FNF concludes successful conflict resolution skills training with liberal political youth activists

From February 3rd-5th 2012, FNF brought together a group of Future Youth activists from all over Lebanon.Facilitated by the Lebanese Conflict Resolution Network (LCRN), the Future Youth delegation underwent an intense training on advanced conflict resolution and group facilitation skills and techniques. Special thanks to Future Youth President Wissam Chibli and IFLRY Vice President Rabih Fakhreddine for attending various parts of the program!

 

FNF organized “Middle East Digital Activism Workshop” brings together Arab social media and civil society activists in Beirut, 2-4 December 2011

Over 22 social media and civil society activists from across the MENA region gathered in Beirut for the launch of the sub-regional “Middle East Digital Activism Workshop”. The workshop is part of a larger effort by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation to encourage and promote the strategic use of social media tools for the betterment of participation in public life and freedom of expression, efforts the foundation’s Amman office has been increasingly engaged in since 2008.

Lebanese liberal youth leaders visit Germany, join “Young Liberals” congress

schnurr[Berlin/Gütersloh/Beirut]: To strengthen liberal political parties and their respective youth organizations is a primary strategic objective of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty. The Arab World is no exception and in mid-April, a delegation comprising eight leading youth representatives of the Lebanese Future Movement visited Germany upon the invitation of the foundation to participate in a study tour on “Strategies for Successful Political Youth Work”.

The speech was delivered by Dr. Omar Razzaz, a former World Bank representative for Lebanon and current director of the Jordanian Social Security Corporation as well as member on LEA’s International Advisory Board.

IFLRY Executive Committee in Beirut, 15-19 July 2009

Launching event of Economic Liberalisation Study in Lebanon

On 10April 2008 the Lebanese Economic Association (LEA) presented in a public events its study entitled „Economic Liberalization in Lebanon: Simulating the Impact of Government Reforms” in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty.


Dr. Jad Chaaban, Acting President of the Lebanese partner organisation of the Foundation presented the findings of the study and elaborated on the methodology of this project that used modern techniques in applied economics to forecast the economic performance of Lebanon, and to simulate the welfare impacts of reforms related to the liberalization of the Lebanese economy.
This study gathered detailed data on indicators that will help policymakers initiate, evaluate and monitor economic reforms; in addition to a general macroeconomic simulation of the expected gains (or losses) of various policy reforms.
